Each level of the Hathaway Scholarship funding is achieved through different requirements.
To qualify for the Hathaway Scholarship, students who graduate from a homeschool program must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- They must apply for the scholarship before their 21st birthday.
- They must have an ACT score (or WorkKeys for the Provisional Opportunity).
- They must meet course requirements.
- GPA is not considered for homeschool students
- For a fill-in-the-blank form and the course requirements, click here
Please note: Students who do not graduate from a homeschool education program but do receive a High School Equivalency Certificate (HSEC) are considered HSEC graduates, not homeschool graduates. Students who graduate with a Wyoming HSEC can find more information here.

Tips for Homeschoolers and the Hathaway Scholarship
The following document has been prepared by Suzanne Wilkins, Wyoming resident and home school parent of four children, all of whom are high school graduates (2009, 2011, 2014 and 2018). Suzanne’s experience with pursuing the Hathaway Scholarship for her own students prompted the writing of this content. The information provided here is meant to help other home school parents pursue and receive Hathaway money on behalf of their students, so that lack of understanding the Hathaway will not be a hindrance to your student receiving appropriate awards. She hopes this information is a help to you and your family.
