How To Maintain Your Hathaway Scholarship

Meet Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) Requirements

  • Provisional: 2.25.
  • Opportunity: 2.25.
  • Performance: 2.50*.
  • Honor: 2.50*.

Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Requirements

  • If you’re attending school part time each semester, you must enroll in and complete at least six non-remedial credits.
  • If you’re attending school full time, you must enroll in and complete 12 non-remedial credits.

Meet Continuous Enrollment Requirements

As a Hathaway Scholarship student, you must be enrolled at an eligible Wyoming college every fall and spring semester.

If you fail to enroll in one of these semesters, you’ll lose your eligibility. A summer term may not be used to regain continuous enrollment.

How To Regain Your Hathaway Scholarship

If you don’t meet the minimum Grade Point Average (GPA), Continuous Enrollment, and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements outlined above, you’ll lose your eligibility for the Hathaway Scholarship until you can meet the requirements again.

To begin the process of regaining** your scholarship, contact your college’s Hathaway Scholarship coordinator, then start working toward meeting the requirements outlined below.

Please note: Hathaway Scholarship money will not fund semesters spent regaining eligibility. Maintaining and regaining must be done at an eligible Wyoming institution.

Meet Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) Requirements

If you lose your Hathaway Scholarship because you didn’t maintain the appropriate Hathaway GPA requirements, your Hathaway funds will be rescinded until the first academic semester/term after your Hathaway GPA has been restored***.

As a reminder, here are the GPAs required to maintain your eligibility for each level of the Hathaway Scholarship:

  • Provisional: 2.25.
  • Opportunity: 2.25.
  • Performance: 2.50*.
  • Honor: 2.50*.

Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Requirements

If you lose your Hathaway Scholarship because you didn’t maintain SAP requirements, your Hathaway Scholarship funds will be rescinded until the first fall or spring semester after SAP has been restored.***

A summer term can be used to reestablish SAP.

As a reminder, to maintain SAP, you must complete the status in which you’re enrolled for fall and spring semesters. For example, if you enroll at full-time status for the fall and spring semesters, you must complete each semester at full-time status.

Meet Continuous Enrollment Requirements

If you lose your scholarship because you didn’t maintain continuous enrollment at an eligible Wyoming college, your Hathaway funds will be rescinded until you enroll in and complete one fall or spring semester as a full-time or part-time student, whichever is applicable.****

As a reminder, to meet your requirement for continuous enrollment, you must be enrolled in at least one college-level course during the fall and spring semesters.

Summer term cannot be used to reestablish continuous enrollment.

*A Performance/Honor student who drops below a 2.50 but has at least a 2.25 may receive the Opportunity scholarship level until a GPA of at least 2.50 is achieved.

**Semesters of ineligibility count against the six-year time frame for scholarship use. Remedial credits cannot be used to regain the scholarship.

***Students who lose eligibility due to SAP must enroll and complete a minimum of six (6) non-remedial credits to regain eligibility.

****Students who lose eligibility due to Continuous Enrollment must regain eligibility based on the enrollment status, full-time or part-time, of the last semester attended.
